There’s something truly special about capturing the first days of a newborn’s life, especially in the comfort of home. Alexis and Eric recently welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Mia, into the world, and I had the honor of photographing their in-home newborn session in Louisville, KY. The session was filled with tender moments, soft snuggles, and the warm glow of new parenthood.
From the moment I arrived, the love Alexis and Eric have for their daughter was palpable. Their home, softly lit by natural light filtering through the windows, provided the perfect backdrop for this intimate session. We started in the nursery, a serene space lovingly decorated with delicate touches that reflected the joy and excitement of welcoming Mia. The soft natural hues and thoughtful details created a peaceful environment where Mia was clearly cherished.
Newborn sessions are all about the little details—the tiny fingers and toes, the peaceful expressions, and the way parents gaze at their new baby with pure adoration. Mia was an absolute dream, sleeping soundly in her parents’ arms and giving us those sweet, sleepy smiles that melt your heart. Alexis and Eric were so natural with her, holding her close and whispering softly as I captured these first precious moments as a family of three.
As we moved through the session, we captured a mix of posed portraits and candid shots, documenting the tender interactions between Mia and her parents. Then, toward the end of the session, their two dogs joined us, adding another layer of warmth to the photos. It was clear these pups were protective of their new little sister, gently sniffing around Mia and even curling up beside her for a few shots. The love and connection between everyone was evident, making for some truly heartwarming images.
In-home newborn sessions are a wonderful way to document this fleeting time in a way that feels personal and meaningful. The familiarity of home allows everyone, especially new parents and their little ones, to feel more relaxed and comfortable. It’s a chance to capture your family’s unique story in the place where you make so many memories.
Alexis and Eric’s session was a beautiful reminder of why I love in-home newborn photography. There’s something so special about being invited into a family’s home during such an intimate time, and capturing the genuine love and joy that fills the air. Mia is already so loved, and I’m thrilled to have been able to document these first moments as they begin this new chapter as a family.
I’d be honored to be considered to document this special time in your life. Reach out here and let’s chat about your vision!
