A Family Session in Beckley Creek Park

Spring had just begun to paint the landscape with its vibrant hues when the McPherson family decided to capture their memories amidst the wildflowers of Beckley Creek Park. As a Louisville family photographer, I eagerly anticipated this session, knowing the park’s stunning scenery would provide a perfect backdrop for their family portraits.

Arriving at Beckley Creek Park

Dan + Allison arrived at the park on a sunny afternoon with their sweet baby girl. The air was fresh, and a gentle breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming flowers. Beckley Creek Park, with its sprawling meadows and winding trails, was alive with color and the sounds of nature.

The Magic of Wildflowers

We started the session with some candid shots of the family exploring the meadow. Baby Madison was delighted by the wildflowers and her smile was absolutely infectious. These moments of genuine joy and curiosity were perfect for capturing the essence of toddlerhood.

We also made sure to capture some posed family portraits. The McPherson family’s outfits—simple and coordinated in shades of white, pinks, and blues—complemented the natural surroundings without overpowering them. Dan and Allison stood closely together, with Madison nestled between them. The morning light filtered through the clouds, creating soft even perfect for their photos.

Individual Portraits with Mom and Dad

With all of my family sessions I make sure to get individuals of baby, as well as portraits with each mom and dad as well. Madison, with her bright eyes and infectious smile, was a natural in front of the camera. We captured her exploring in the field, the flowers blurring into a beautiful bokeh behind her.

The individuals with mom and dad were some of my favorites. It’s so special to capture the bond between parent and child. Their genuine connection and playful energy were a joy to photograph.
