Saturday morning I walked into Emily + Tyler’s Louisville home greeted by their son and lots of little toy cars. Welcoming a new addition to the family is a big change and such a special time for families, but I immediately felt welcomed into their home. Their son showed me his toys while mom and dad finished getting ready, and then big brother even helped with a diaper change! I was impressed.
Jess + Rob’s in-home newborn session had to be rescheduled because of snow, but oh my goodness it was worth the wait! Thursday morning I traveled down from Louisville to Frankfort, Kentucky and I was so excited for this one. Being invited into someone’s home during this special time is such a privilege, getting to watch these moments from a front row seat is something that I don’t take lightly, and when I reached Jess and Rob’s home I felt welcomed immediately. They have a two year old son (who reminded me much of my own son!) and after chatting for a bit we all went up to the nursery.
This past weekend I had the honor of photographing Adam and Mary Emma’s sweet little family in their Louisville home. It’s December and at a time when it’s a little too cold to go outside for long (especially with a newborn), it was the PERFECT day for this sweet in-home newborn session. These are some of my absolute favorite photos to take. I’d opt for an in-home newborn session over a studio session every day. This may seem stressful, but your home doesn’t need to be perfect!
Samantha and Daniel’s newborn session just so happened to also be their first wedding anniversary and I could feel the love walking into their home! As soon as their five year old opened the door and their two year old ran in with a snack cup, you could tell their life is full. Full of excitement and love, full of laughter and surprises. Big sister was full of smiles, and you could tell she loves to help. Little brother was full of energy, and much reminded me of my own son running around the house!
I went to Cassie and Brandon’s house on a Saturday morning and the moment their sweet three year old boy opened the door talking about dinosaurs, I could feel the love in their home. With two littles, this time of life can feel hectic and overwhelming, but on this day these four took the time to slow down (even if just for a little bit) and enjoy these moments together. They snuggled and laughed and played with their dog Winton, and most importantly they were present in the moment.
