A Rainy Start with a Perfect Ending
Sometimes the best moments come after a little bit of rain—and Jeremy + Melissa’s engagement session at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate was the perfect example of that.
We had originally planned their session for a few days earlier, but storms rolled in and we had to make the call to reschedule. The new date looked perfect on the forecast—sunny, warm, and just right for a springtime shoot. But, of course, Kentucky weather had other plans. As I left my house to head toward Lexington, the rain started coming down. Still, I kept my hopes (and spirits) high and made my way to Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate. And I’m so glad I did.
Ashland in Full Bloom
As soon as we all pulled up, the rain stopped, the clouds parted, and we were treated to a soft, golden evening that felt like pure spring magic. The grounds at The Henry Clay Estate were stunning—dogwood trees in full bloom, bright green grass, and the stately elegance of the historic estate made the perfect backdrop for Jeremy + Melissa’s session. We had so much fun wandering around and soaking in the beauty of this Lexington gem.

Joy, Laughter, and Love
One of my favorite things about photographing these two was how easy their laughter came. All Jeremy had to do was give Melissa a certain look, and she’d burst into the most joyful, contagious laugh. That kind of connection is something so special to witness and even more special to capture through the lens.
Looking Ahead to November
Jeremy + Melissa were so calm and flexible despite the weather hiccups, and I couldn’t be more thankful for their go-with-the-flow energy. Their session was filled with warmth, laughter, and the soft colors of spring. It has me counting down the days until their wedding this November—I just know it’s going to be full of even more joy and love.
